File Buddy Viewers can display a preview of a file’s contents for a variety of file formats as described below:
- Movie, sound, and music files - A Viewer will display a standard QuickTime movie controller when viewing these kinds of files, allowing you to play the movie or audio in the file. You can set viewers to automatically start playing music and movie files, with or without a delay using the Viewers panel of the Preferences window.
- Graphic files - Viewers will display the contents of JPEG, GIF, TIFF and other files containing QuickTime-compatible picture formats. Images are typically reduced in size for display in viewers, and the current scaling applied to an image is shown in the viewer’s title.
- Icon (.icns) files - These files typically contain the image used data to display application and file icons in the Finder. Viewers will display the largest icon available in the file.
- PDF files - PDF files containing a single image are displayed as an ordinary image. Viewers display the first page of multi-page PDF documents.
- Text files - Viewers display the contents of files containing text and a some other data types as raw text.
- For folders and files whose content File Buddy can’t display, a Viewer will display the item’s icon.
